DESCRIPTIONBorrowing the name from the Arthurian legend, Lancelot-Pienne is based in Cramant, one of the most celebrated Grand Cru Villages in the Côte de Blancs. With just 8 hectares, Gilles Lancelot, himself a trained oenologist, dedicates his days to the vineyard and cellar. Favouring low dosage, relatively late harvests and the extremely interesting, albeit slightly risky, use of the Solera system for ageing and blending his top cuvées.
Spending 4 years ageing on lees inside their lush cellars, this Champagne shows exquisite concentration and a rich palate. The nose develops as you taste with notes of stewed fruit, scents of butter and hot brioche. The palate suggests more ripe fruit, lots of roundness and a delicate touch of honey.
Drink now or age for 5 years. Best paired with classic French terrine, or white meat.
