Aglianico is one of Italy’s most celebrated grape varieties. The vineyards of I Favati are situated in foothills of the Apennine mountain range, with a wide range of soils that includes clay, limestone, and volcanic deposits. After a year in used French oak barriques, and further ageing in stainless steel tanks.
This cuvée has shaken off the typical austerity of Aglianico to produce a soft, indulgent wine. Saturated fruit aromas of black cherry, mulberry, and black plum are prevalent on the nose, with more mature notes of orange peel, aniseed, tobacco , wild herbs, graphite, and leather emerging on the palate. This well balanced wine would pair beautifully with a hearty cut of beef.
