Cristom Vineyards was established in 1992 by husband and wife Paul and Eileen Gerrie. Now run by their son Tom, Cristom's philosophy is to produce wines with minimal intervention that reflect the vineyard and the vintage. Specialising in Pinot Noir, the estate's four vineyards are named after matriarchs of the Gerrie family: Eileen, Jessie, Louise and Marjorie. The Mt Jefferson cuvée is the equivalent of their ‘Village Wine’, a blend of Cristom's four vineyards (63%) with a remainder of purchased fruit, made in a vibrant, fresh and accessible style.
The nose of smoky red fruit, cedar and tobacco leads into a savoury red fruit palate with a long finish of spice and wood. This is a great American Pinot Noir that deserves to be paired with that honey roast duck recipe you’ve been thinking about!
