Amongst the big names in the Pauillac appellation located on the left bank of Bordeaux, such as the Château Latour and the Château Lynch-Bages, Sophie Martin at Château Julia work vines that have been in the family for generations. The vineyards of the property in Pauillac are located on an exceptional terroir, which helps to achieve full ripeness. With the favourable terroir, the Pauillac wines are usually structured and tannic which softens with age. However, contrary to traditional blends, the estate has chosen to make Merlot dominant wines that are approachable at a younger age.
The resulting wine is showing an expressive notes of black plum, blackberry, violet, roasted coffee bean and vanilla. Try pairing this with classic steak frites.
