This Muscadet is made from the vines averaging 100 years of age from the Nantais area of the Loire Valley. Muscadet grape which is also known as Melon de Bourgogne has been the only allowed variety in the Muscadet appellations, such as the Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine. Muscadet is typically fermented and aged in large, shallow underground glass-lined concrete vats sur lie. Sur lie is a technique used to fill out the body of the wines. Further, ageing on the lees also retains the freshness of the wine and may also retain a small amount of carbon dioxide.
The wine is given extended bottle maturation for greater complexity without losing its typical freshness and is showing notes of green apple, lemon, bright acidity and a light body.
